How to do Masters in Germany – Master Eligibility Program (MEP)
The Master Eligibility program (MEP) is mainly designed for foreign students who wish to do their masters in Germany and have completed Bachelor studies (3 or 4 years) with minimum 180 Credit points. The Bachelors could be in Engineering, Management or in other basic sciences fields.
Upon successful completion of MEP students are eligible for further master studies across all German universities.
In Germany students have two choices to do their masters,
- An English taught masters or
- A German taught masters.
For English taught programs, students need to apply directly via uni-assist. The number of applications and the admissions are in the ratio of 50:1 or even 100:1. Due to these high application numbers the applicant needs to thoroughly check the eligibility criteria as well as his or her Admission probability prior to applying. Normally it would take around 2-3 months to know the status of the admission.
Note: Only few universities offer English taught programs. The selection process has several admission criterias that needs to be fulfilled and also should be an international mix of students i.e. the Program is available to applicants from many countries (International Program) rather than from one or two countries.
MEP paves the way for all applicants equal and fair opportunity to do a masters in German taught in Germany.
In order to join the master in German taught students must have minimum C1 level German and also pass the exam either DSH or Telc C1 HS (Hochschule) or equivalent.

All students who apply for the MEP must also apply for the Master Program at a University and receive an admission letter. Below you can select the course and the University. Do note that upon completion of the MEP can join the University for masters or can also apply for a new University of his or her choice.

Our MEP coursework actually takes each student through this process where they start their A1 till B1 (Online), then the B2 and C1 HS at our campus in Germany. By applying to MEP Students also receive
- Admission letter for MEP (for the coursework part in German campus)
- Pre-conditional offer letter from a public or a private university
With these two letters students are eligible to apply for the visa provided the other relevant documents are submitted and the living cost is also covered.

The University studies start mostly in the month of March/April (Summer Semester) and or in September/October (Winter Semester). MEP final exam dates are falling prior to the start such that the student’s have a smooth transition to their Master studies.

12. German Language certificate (If available in prior, if not via IAS College provided after completion of the required German Level prior to Visa).
13. Professional passport size photograph with good resolution (as JPEG, Gif, PNG, Tiff – titled)
14. Complete personal details (CV/Resume) as .doc / .docx file or any other editable format.
15. Work experience certificates (If any)

How to Apply?
- Form (AAF). It has to be signed and sent back to IAS via email as a scanned copy
- Start your German language Online with IAS College
- Transfer the fees
- Receive Admission letter for MEP and Conditional offer for Master studies
- Open Blocked Bank account in Germany to cover the living cost
- Apply for Visa at the relevant German Consulate/Embassy
- Once visa issued, transfer the remaining fees
- Inform IAS student office about the flight details (Note: Flight & accommodation request must be informed to IAS at least two weeks before arrival).

Students just have to pay administrative costs per semester, which often include the semester ticket for train and bus travel in the city or state area. With a student ID one will receive discounts in many places, like shops (mostly special days are designated for students to receive discounts), leisure activities (like cinema, sports, museums etc.) or travel within Germany or in Europe.
There is a wide range of master courses, so candidates will surely find a course that matches their interests, be it with a practical approach or research oriented. Moreover, Germany suffers from a lack of manpower in many fields, foreign candidates with a good education and a solid command of German, are in high demand.
Overall Germany is an economically stable and also safe country.
In Germany, you can opt for masters taught in English as well as in German (via the MEP Program). In order to qualify for the direct English taught the student must have a very high percentage as well as the need to compete with many more other such aspirants. Few courses are offered in English in comparison to German taught masters. To answer it shortly: In most public Universities there are NO tuition fees, as they are publicly funded. But there are some administrative charges which could be anywhere between 0 to 500€ per semester. This includes mostly the ID card, the administration fees, the local transport etc.
Fees are charged mostly at private universities.
You can apply for the MEP and mostly the work experience is an added advantage. Some Universities also take relevant work experience into account for Credit point calculations.
